The manual cryogenic extended‑stem ball valve is a manually operated shut‑off ball valve specially engineered for low‑temperature and cryogenic service. It adopts cryogenic‑grade body, ball, seat and sealing structures, and is equipped with an extended stem. It is mainly used for transportation and reliable shut‑off of LNG, liquid nitrogen, liquid oxygen, liquid argon and other cryogenic media.
The extended stem keeps the packing box and handwheel operating mechanism away from the cryogenic media zone, creating a thermal isolation distance to mitigate the adverse impact of low temperature on stem sealing and operating components.
Working Principle of Cryogenic Flanged Ball Valve:
Opening Process: Manually rotate the handwheel, which transmits rotational torque to the ball via the valve stem. The ball rotates approximately 90°, gradually aligning the ball bore with the pipeline axis. When the ball reaches the fully‑open position, a through flow path is established for smooth passage of cryogenic media.
Closing Process: Rotate the handwheel in reverse direction. The valve stem drives the ball to the closed position. The ball bore gradually deviates from the flow direction of the pipeline and makes firm contact with the valve seat. Sealing specific pressure is generated by seat pre‑load together with medium pressure to achieve shut‑off of cryogenic media.
The whole opening‑closing cycle can be summarized as: Handwheel actuation → Torque transmission via valve stem → 90° rotation of ball → Media opening or shut‑off.
Extended Stem: Cryogenic media brings the valve body and internal components to extremely low temperature. The extended stem and elongated bonnet maintain a distance between the packing box / handwheel and cryogenic media, reducing upward cold conduction along the stem.
This structure brings the following benefits: minimizing frosting and freezing risks of the packing box, improving working conditions for stem sealing, ensuring normal handwheel operation, and mitigating low‑temperature impact on the sealing system.
Manual ball valves are widely used on piping systems for fast opening and closing, to cut off or connect fluid media stably. Accurate parameter confirmation including working temperature, medium, pressure and caliber is required before ordering for correct valve selection. Customized solutions on valve size, pressure rating, connection standard and body material are available to meet diverse non-standard working conditions.(Unit: mm)
