Pneumatic Centerline Soft‑Seated Wafer Butterfly Valve is a butterfly valve driven by a pneumatic actuator, featuring centerline design, soft‑seated seat and wafer‑type connection. It is mainly used for media shut‑off and flow regulation in industrial piping systems.
Adopting centerline construction, the axis of the valve stem substantially coincides with the centerlines of the disc and valve body. During valve opening and closing, the disc rotates around the stem axis. Sealing is achieved by compression between the disc and the resilient seat. Compared with metal‑seated butterfly valves, the centerline soft‑seated design offers advantages of simple construction, excellent sealing performance, low operating torque and cost‑effective price.
The valve body adopts wafer‑type connection. It is installed between two pipeline flanges and secured by flange bolts, delivering compact structure, light weight and convenient installation.
Operating Principle of Pneumatic Resilient‑Seated Butterfly Valve：
Opening Stroke: Compressed air enters the pneumatic actuator and rotates the valve stem and concentric disc. The disc rotates around the pipeline centerline and gradually separates from the rubber seat. When the disc turns parallel to the media flow direction, the valve is fully open for unobstructed flow. The concentric design reduces friction between disc and seat during operation with low operating torque.
Closing Stroke: The actuator receives reverse control signal to rotate the disc back. The disc gradually presses against the resilient seat, forming a tight seal by elastic deformation of the seat to cut off media flow.
Automatic Control: A solenoid valve enables remote valve on/off control; limit switches provide feedback of full-open and full-closed status. Fitted with a valve positioner, the disc opening can be precisely controlled for continuous flow regulation. Single-acting spring-return or double-acting pneumatic actuators are optional to meet different safety requirements.
Pneumatic butterfly valves are widely used in industrial piping systems for fast, automatic and reliable flow isolation and regulation. Equipped with pneumatic actuators, these valves enable remote operation and can be integrated with PLC, DCS and automatic control systems for efficient process control. Key parameters including working temperature, medium, pressure rating, valve size, actuator type and connection standard should be confirmed before ordering to ensure proper valve selection. Customized valve sizes, pressure ratings, connection types, sealing materials, body materials and pneumatic actuator configurations are available for various industrial and non-standard applications. Pneumatic centerline butterfly valves are widely applied in water treatment, water supply & drainage, HVAC, fire‑protection, chemical, food & beverage, pharmaceutical, paper‑making, power generation and general‑industrial piping systems. They are suitable for water, air, compressed air, cooling water, sewage, weakly corrosive liquids and other common industrial media.
